Implementing Standards and Educational Programmes for the Sensory Impaired in the Difficult Economic Situation in Slovenia During the 1980s

During the 1980s, the resources available for the socially crucial publicly funded activities were severely impaired due to the general Yugoslav crisis. The contribution at hand focuses on the question of how these cuts affected the implementation of the educational programmes provided by the formal education system and by the social and humanitarian organisations for the sensory impaired. Based on the relevant archival materials, it is possible to conclude that both adapted and subordinated their activities to the crisis, except that the weight of the situation put more pressure on the providers of educational programmes within the societies, as, in some cases, even the implementation of the basic programmes was jeopardised.
