Abstract

The author shows the attitude towards the act of sacrifice and towards one's own victims and the opponents', as expressed in both underground daily partisan press and that controlled by the Italian occupier and the opponents of the liberation movement in Slovenia during the Second World War. He has detected changes in that attitude with the passing of the war years, the reduction of sensibility, the exaltation of victims on one's own side and the belittlement of those of the opponent. The argument of the victims was often used and abused in the reinforcement of political and military objectives.
