Medijski prikaz dejavnikov tveganja in varovalnih dejavnikov za samomor v Sloveniji (1959–1999)

Povzetek

Študija je preučila zgodovinske spremembe v stališčih slovenske splošne javnosti do samomora z analizo medijskega poročanja v dveh glavnih slovenskih časopisih od leta 1959 do 1999. Članke smo sistematično iskali v podatkovnih bazah časopisov in na podlagi kriterijev analizirali 1.785 relevantnih člankov iz prvotnega nabora 13.042 zadetkov. Naše ugotovitve kažejo, da so mediji tekom štirih obravnavanih desetletij pogosteje poročali o dejavnikih tveganja za samomor kot o varovalnih dejavnikih. Najpogosteje omenjeni dejavniki tveganja so vključevali individualne značilnosti, kot so spol in težave z duševnim zdravjem, pri čemer so v poznejših letih postali bolj izraziti tudi dejavniki vezani na skupnost. Pri varovalnih dejavnikov je bil poudarek vzporeden z individualnimi dejavniki tveganja, pri čemer so bili dejavniki, vezani na medosebne odnose pogosteje poročani v šestdesetih letih, z naraščajočim dejavnikov vezanih na skupnost v devetdesetih letih. Izsledki kažejo na premik k bolj celostnemu razumevanju dejavnikov tveganja in varovalnih dejavnikov, ter k pristopom, ki temeljijo na pomenu skupnosti pri preprečevanju samomora, kar odraža razvoj javnozdravstvene paradigme.
