Spodbude za izdajo spominskih zbornikov so različne. Med njimi so običajno visoki življenjski jubileji in strokovna relevantnost jubilanta, a je v tem primeru žal drugače. Spodbuda je bil odhod prezgodaj umrlega kolega, Andreja Studna, leta 2022. S preprostim naslovom zbornika želimo počastiti njegov spomin. Na poziv se je odzvalo veliko število kolegic in kolegov, njegovih sodelavcev, študentov, prijateljev. Tudi kolegov, ki jih njegovo delo navdihuje ali pa so ga spoštovali kot raziskovalca in človeka. Zbornik kaže, kako široka je raziskovalna pahljača v današnjem zgodovinopisju.
