At the beginning of the Twenties Slovenian economic circles endeavoured to establish a stock exchange in Ljubljana. In 1922 the first decisions were made and the government in Belgrade granted permission for its establishment. The founding assembly of the Stock-Exchange met on 6 August 1923. Following lengthy preparations the Stock-Exchange was opened a year later, 16 August 1924. Its first gathering followed on 18 August 1924. Mr. Dragotin Hribar, the later first president of the Stock-Exchange council, was the most active individual in the activities leading to its establishment.
