Author Guidelines

The journal is published three times per year in Slovenian and in the following foreign languages: English, German, Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Italian, Slovak and Czech. The maximum length of discussions, records and historical documentation is 45,000 characters (with spaces), while reviews and reports may contain up to 16,000 characters (with spaces). Discussions and records are published with abstracts in English and Slovenian as well as summaries in English. During the publication procedures the editorial board only takes those contributions into account which have been prepared in line with the rest of the guidelines (available here). A English Microsoft Word template is also available for download: docx and dotx.

The articles should contain complete scientific apparatuses. Footnotes should be used for references to sources and literature. In the Sources and References list all of the sources and literature referred to in the footnotes should be listed in the alphabetical order. Archive sources, literature, magazines, online sources, oral statements etc. should be listed separately. The Chicago-style citation should be adhered to. When listing archive sources, the rules adhering to the Slovenian archive source citation guidelines (click here) should be observed.

The editorial board proofreads and edits the incoming contributions, and the authors must review the changes and authorise them. No additions to the text are allowed during correction. The editorship ensures the translation of the abstracts and summaries from Slovenian to English as well as from English to Slovenian. This journal does not charge APCs or submission charges.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format (doc or docx).

  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided. The URLs are ready to click (e.g., http://ojs.inz.si/).

  • The text is 1.5 line spaced, uses a 12-point Times New Roman font; and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed into separate files and marked within the text at the appropriate points.
  • The scientific manuscript is a maximum of 45,000 characters (including spaces) in length including endnotes. The summary is a maximum of 4000 characters (including spaces) in length. The abstract is a maximum of 250 words. Historical documentation is a maximum of 45,000 characters (including spaces) in lenght. All other manuscripts are a maximum of 16,000 characters (including spaces) in lenght.

  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.

  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
