In the paper, the author presents his research dealing with the question of Second World War victims. The research, which has been published as a book, is based on the record of all the victims from a selected area in the former Cerknica Commune which lies in Inner Carniola. A statistical processing of the collected data offers various presentations and conclusions with regards to the interaction between the causes, circumstances, place and time of death as well as military (in)activity and the social status of the victims.
