The author sums up the interim results of the »Trieste During the War, 1940-1945« project undertaken by the Regional Institute for the History of the Liberation Movement of Trieste. The summary refers to the topics covered and new sources as well as methods applied, viz. the demographic trends, the impact of the War on the daily material and spiritual life of the city (the perception of war in particular), the war-time economy of the city, the functioning of the municipal administration and political life within the National Fascist Party, the city's cultural setup, schools and propaganda institutions, as well as relationships between the Slovenian ethnic minority and the local Jewish community. Of particular interest might be a quantitative analysis of a working class district of the city.
