While the book Samomor med simptomom in metaforo (Suicide between Symptom and Metaphor) is divided into three thematic sections, the author of these reflections has traced the phenomena of suicide chronologically, as they have occurred across different historical periods. In a kind of chronological overview, she aimed to show, based on the work under discussion, how the social, economic, political, and cultural conditions in Slovenia at that time affected the suicide rate and its causes. She also reflected on how contemporaries associated suicide with the traits of the Slovenian national character. In her efforts, she primarily relied on the literature listed in the monograph but aimed to present it from different perspectives and encourage readers to reflect more deeply on the high suicide rate in Slovenia and its underlying causes, which are typically a combination of personal distress and social circumstances.
