Abstract

The Slovene language, up to Trubar (1508—1586) just registered and from then on also written down, vvas made a literary language in 1550. The point was not a simple giving more importance to one or another dialect or language spoken in a town, as thought up till now, but a well considered construction, made on the basis of Trubar's practical experience with spoken languages of Slovenes in the 16th century, different as to the walks of life and area, on the basis of reformation ideas about a wider comprehension of the literary language, as well as on the basis of knowledge of several literary traditions in Western Europe.
