Abstract

Konservacija kovinastih predmetov zahteva poseben študij. Kovine spre-, mene obliko in izgube lastnosti zaradi korozije in zaradi tvorbe mineralnih inkrustov. Te spremembe povzroča vrsta kemičnih in elektrokemičnih reakcij/ Hitrost razkroja predmeta je odvisna od narave kovine in od pogojev, v katerih je bila. Korozijo moremo ustaviti. Zato moramo odkriti in odstraniti njene povzročitelje. Povzročitelj je lahko vlaga, često pa so prisotni aktivni elementi, kakor klor, ki vstopa v kemično reakcijo s kovino.
