Abstract

The article presents the political organization in Zone A of the Free Territory of Trieste (FTT), with an emphasis on the aftermath of the split in the communist ranks following the publication of Informbiro’s resolution in June 1948. The article also addresses a few other crucial developments that punctuated the existence of FTT (1947–1954), such as municipal elections in 1949 and 1952, as well as events surrounding the negotiations for the division of the territory in question between Italy and Yugoslavia.
