German newspapers in Trieste in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries

The article presents German newspapers that were published in Trieste in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries alongside Italian, Slovenian, and other press. The statistical review is followed by an analysis of the German publishing field: who provided financial support for newspapers, what was their basic contents orientation, who were the editors and contributors to the print media published in Trieste in the German language, and for how long it was able to maintain its position in the publishing market of the city, which was the Habsburg monarchy’s window to the world, where many influences intertwined and gave it its multicultural appeal. The article attempts to answer the question regarding the role of German journalism in the nineteenth-century Trieste.
