Some fragments to the history of the Duplek district from the middle of the 18th century to the end of World War I (with special emphasis on the newspaper Slovenski gospodar)

Abstract

The author deals with circumstances in the district of Duplek in the period between the reigning of Maria Theresia and the end of World War I. In particular, he studied the newspaper Slovenski gospodar and based on the study, analysed events in that region after the outset of the Austrian constitutional period. At lack of other literature, the newspaper enables us to reconstruct the life of the local population and to determine to what measure national differentiation in Lower Styria in the 80s of the 19th century reflected in rural areas between Maribor and Ptuj.
