The Strmol castle lord Rado Hribar and his family

Abstract

Rado Hribar, the last private possessor of the castle of Strmol was from a known Ljubljana family of a Slovene printer, industrialist, politician and follower of Slavic idea Dragotion Hribar. The mother Evgenija Šumi (Schumi) was from the middle-class family of dainty manufacturers of Franc and Josipina Schumi. The contribution brings a short history of the families, founders of the candy factory Šumi and the knitwear factory Pletenina, and some information about the family from which Rado's wife Ksenija, granddaughter of "the richest Slovene" Josip Gorup-Slavinjski from Slavina near Postojna, originated.
