The publishing and printing house of Johann Thomas Trattner (1719–1798) has broadened in the 70ies of the 18th century its activity over the entire monarchy; they opened branches in Gorizia, Trieste, Pest, Innsbruck, Linz, Varaždin and in Zagreb. In addition, Trattner had contacts with tradesmen in over twenty towns – for example in Brno, Warsaw, Leipzig, Frankfurt am Main, where he was selling with the help of agents. In Ljubljana, he had good co-operators among the representatives of Carniolian booksellers. To Trattner, language differences did not present obstacles; he rather coined profit from them. He printed and sold books in German, Latin, Italian, French, Croatian, Czech, Hungarian languages and as well in Slovene.
