The seigniory of Gorizia at the beginning of the 16th century

Abstract

In 1500, Maximillian the Hapsburg inherited after the last Gorizia count of Leonhard, the County of Gorizia which the central part was the provincial princely seigniory with office in Gorica to which the majority of villages from Hubelj and the river Vipava to the Gorizia Gore and the river Idrija (Iudrio) and the nearby Friulian settlements were subjected. The provincial princely land register from 1507 reveals with the help of other similar sources some economic and social characteristics of the then Gorizia region.
