Until recently, the Lower Savinja Valley was an area from which no Slovenian official texts or records were known to have originated from before the mid-nineteenth century. Today, however, it may boast the largest number of Slovenian last wills and testaments as well as the earliest and most numerous Slovenian tithe registers, along with the records of several other types of documents in the Slovenian language. All last wills and testaments were drawn up during the first half of the nineteenth century, and tithe registers and other official records at the end of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. In addition to providing a detailed presentation of hitherto unpublished examples of texts, the contribution contains a survey of all known Slovenian-language official documents, produced in the Lower Savinja Valley before the mid-nineteenth century.
