The Tuštanj castle is one of the rare Slovene castles where besides the castle the extensive agrarian activities have preserved. The castle and the estate were gaining by the change of owners from the Lichtenberg familty to the Scaria and ultimately the Pirnat families, a series of interesting cultural dimensions that have preserved to the present time. Preserved at the castle are several hundred years old equipment and furniture in identical arrangement, as dictated by former desires and need of the owners. Also vivid is the narrative tradition of the Pirnat family, which is beside the variegated written and illustrated material the key source for the interpretation of the residing culture of the entirely different levels of the inhabitants of the castle, The Lichtenberg, Scaria and Pirnat families.
