Individual lords of the manor kept in the past times house priests at their private chapels. Partly they needed them for the education and upbringing of their children (the so-called praeceptores), and mainly for performing house service, that is mass and prayer (so-called sacelani). Altogether there were in the years 1703–1819 at least eleven sacelans at Tuštanj. Tightly linked with the Tuštanj manor in the past was the curate prebendary at the church of Sv. Peter and Paul in Vrhpolje near Moravče. It was founded by Karl earl Lichtenberg on April 30th 1780. The Vrhpolje prebendary had to among other perform as many as 41 excursuses at succursal churches at Sv. Trojica, Sv. Križ, and at Vrhpolje. Usually coming to serve at Vrhpolje were former curates (second) at Moravče, and from Vrhpolje they were promoted as a rule to priests. There were 14 altogether. After World War II, the Vrhpolje exposits and priests were no longer under the patronage of the Tuštanj manor.
