Abstract

A supplement to Kronika’s thematic issue 2018/3, the contribution brings forth three things from the eighteenth century, related to the market town and seigniory of Ribnica as well as to the wider Ribnica area. The first is the fairgroundhouse situated in the market town itself, the socalled komun or kavmav, on which there is now some understanding of what it was and what it looked like. It is attested in two reports from 1740 and 1747, respectively, both of which, to our knowledge, also contain the earliest accounts on Ribnica’s peddling tradition abroad, in Italian and German milieus. The third is a description of the boundaries of the Ribnica territorial court in Slovene featured in two records, contained in the land registers of the seigniory of Ribnica from 1748–1757 and 1759–1769. Following the discovery of these records, Ribnica is no longer a blank area on the map of early official Slovenica.
