Abstract

Bohuslav Lavička of Bohemian descent worked as a pharmacist in Tržič for over thirty years (between 1911 and 1942). The love for collecting old pharmaceutical and medicinal objects, which he had felt ever since his early childhood, made it possible for him to create an extensive and valuable pharmaceutical-medical collection reflecting the history of pharmacy and medical treatment as well as outlining the history of natural and medical sciences. The collection is owned by and displayed in the pharmaceutical company Lek in Ljubljana. In 2002, pursuant to the Cultural Heritage Protection Act, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia declared the collection a cultural monument of national significance.
