Abstract

In his monumental work on the history of his birth town Tržič, Viktor Kragl (1883–1951) devoted a special chapter to Tržič parish registers. Therein he stated that the oldest records dated to 1635, which turned out to be inaccurate. The oldest preserved parish registers of the Parish of Tržič, now kept in the Archdiocesan Archives of Ljubljana, date to 1602–1603. The present paper discusses and analyses the first entries as well as highlights interesting and unique particularities hidden in Tržič’s oldest parish registers.
