Keywords:

Cross-border agricultural purchases in Yugoslavia indirectly influenced the situation in Slovenian agriculture today. The introductory part of the article describes the agricultural policy of Yugoslavia and the position of farmers who were private landowners. On the basis of the literature about the Yugoslav economy and first-hand oral accounts, the situation is presented that allowed some farmers to make large agricultural purchases. The article then focuses on farmers who lived near the border and were among the first who were allowed to cross it. The next section deals with the characteristics of cross-border agricultural purchases from the point of view of the buyers and a depiction of the consequences.
