V prispevku so predstavljeni primeri namernih požigov, ki jih je obravnavalo kranjsko deželno sodišče v Ljubljani v prvi polovici 19. stoletja. Nekaj jih je bilo plod zmedenosti in zamerljivosti neuravnovešenih posameznikov, značilni za to obdobje pa so maščevalni požigi rokovnjačev. Rokovnjači namreč pri svojih grožnjah s požigi niso ostajali le pri besedah, rdečega petelina so tudi dejansko spuščali na strehe »izdajalcev«.
