Remembering History as a Way of Forgetting the Past

V pričujočem prispevku avtor analizira, kako vladajoče elite predstavljajo svoj pogled na preteklost, in to z namenom uveljavljanja svoje interpretacije zgodovine in izključevanja alternativnih interpretacij preteklosti. Svojo analizo »boja za interpretacijo« podaja na primeru enega najstarejših še stoječih javnih spomenikov v Ljubljani, leta 1682 postavljenega Marijinega stebra pri cerkvi sv. Jakoba. Pri tem pokaže, kako tudi tipičen nabožen spomenik, zgrajen po spomeniški modi svojega časa, odraža ideološke in politične razmere v času svojega nastanka, njegove predelave pa spreminjanje ideoloških in političnih razmer.
