About the Journal
The journal Zgodovina za vse (History for All) focuses on historical anthropology and deals with the history of everyday life and history from below, or the history of ordinary people. A special feature of the magazine is its return to storytelling.
It is divided into three sections. The first contains stories written by life and articles that correspond to the magazine's program orientation. The criteria for contributions are a scientific approach with a rich critical apparatus and a high standard of writing style (written in the form of a narrative, i.e., a story that avoids boring narration). The second part contains contributions from the field of historical theory and polemics, while the third part contains reviews of books dealing with similar topics.
The most distinctive feature of the journal is undoubtedly its return to narrative. The articles are distinguished by their rich narrative or description (i.e., deep or in-depth description). This belongs to the so-called modern narrative, which historians, influenced by the discoveries of anthropology, contrast with the classical narrative or "thin description." Thorough and accurate studies of various phenomena from Slovenian history are presented in complex articles which, depending on the methodology and writing techniques used, fall within the field of microhistory or micro-narrative, the history of everyday life, the history of mentalities, and the history of civilisations, customs and traditions.
In terms of its paradigmatic orientation, the journal can be classified among contemporary historical publications in Europe. The articles are supplemented with longer German summaries and shorter Slovenian and English synopses.
Zgodovine za vse has been well received not only by historians, students of history, and other humanities scholars, but has also met with a great response from the general public.
The magazine is published twice a year in 297 x 210 mm format and has approximately 100 to 120 pages. We welcome contributions from authors and readers who are interested in such historical topics and feel the need to write or read about this type of history.
