V širnem oceanu zgodovine morale je našla svoje sidrišče tudi zgodovina korupcije. Tema je seveda zelo aktualna, kajti skorajda ne mine dan, da se ne bi namigovalo na podkupovanje, na nedopustno bogatenje politikov ali politiki bližnjih oseb, čudnemu favoriziranju ponudnikov pri določenih razpisih itd. Primeri korupcije segajo od lokalne občinske ravni do najvišjih vladnih krogov. Mnogo ljudi je danes prepričanih, da so politične odločitve kupljive.
