Abstract

In his paper the author presents the main points of the political debate which developed in Italy in connection with the South Slavic lands from 1908 on. He points out the movement of the so-called democratic irredentism which tried to accord the interests of Italians and South Slavs in the Adriatic space, and a more nationalistic and imperialistic line, represented during the war and immediately after by some liberal politicians and later by the fascist leader Benito Mussolini.
