The article deals with the charter by Emperor Frederick ITI on the improvement of the Carniolan coat of arms from January of 1463, which is one of the most important documents of the fifteenth century. Its issue 1s set in the context of historical events in this turbulent period. Attention has been turned to the establishment of honorary posts of the hereditary Marshall, Steward, and Cup-bearer in Carniola and in the Windic March, since grounds for their creation are closely linked to the aforementioned charter. The research also deals with thirty-two noble-men who are known by name; it has been proven that they do not represent the entire Carniolan contingent that helped the emperor in Vienna.
