Abstract

In addition to other equipment, early 14th century inventories of the castle of Škofja Loka, which was owned by the Freising bishops, also list the castle’s armament. This subject has already been studied by scholars yet the related terminology, extremely difficult to understand and frequently very vague, remains to be adequately clarified and explained. Employing comparative material and related primary sources, this article aims to revise previous interpretations in order to establish what type of weapons were stored at the castle, and their exact purpose.
