Das Gallenberger Urkundenarchiv und die Familiengenealogie

Abstract

Exploring the history of the document fonds of the Gallenberg family archives, the first part of the article attempts a reconstruction of the Gallenbergs’ medieval document corpus. It examines 174 newly-discovered summaries of the lost original documents. Largly based on the abovementioned “new”, in addition to other, available sources, the second part focuses on the genealogy of the Gallenberg family between 1300 and 1500. Among other things, it brings a critical evaluation of Schoenleben’s Genealogia illustrissimae familiae de Gallenberg.
