Abstract

in the eastern part of the adriatic, the capture and enslaving of venetians and, on the other hand, of ottomans, and their subsequent rescue from slavery by means of exchange, restitution, or ransom was of utmost importance in the 16th century and throughout the early modern era. a significant part of relations between the venetians and the ottomans, such contacts importantly contributed to the establishment of new ties between both sides.
