Slovene Women and the National Movement in Slovene Printed Mass Media in the 19th century
Abstract
The essay examines the development of a discourse in slovene newspapers and magazines on the role of women as supporters of the national renaissance. Their activities are compared with activities of women in other Slavonic nations. The author also tries to find an answer to the dilemma whether the national movement proved to be supportive of feminist claims or perhaps impeded them.
