Abstract

Several extensive inventories listing weaponry in the Habsburg lands were compiled at the behest of King Maximilian I in the first years of the sixteenth century. One of the less known versions preserved solely in fragmentary form is nowadays kept in the Bavarian State Library. This inventory (zeugbuch) is yet to be published in its entirety and is virtually unknown to the Slovene historiography. An examination of its contents shows that this is an extraordinarily valuable document, which provides a detailed insight into the armament of castles, cities, towns, market towns, fortified churches, and monasteries in the Slovene ethnic territory and its immediate surroundings.
