Julius Ritter Fränzl Noble of Vesteneck (1845– 1931), Doctor of Law, owner of the Mirna castle in the region of Dolenjska, district gov- ernor of Litija from August 1875 onwards, and member of the Carniolan provincial diet from 1876 onwards, was one of provincial office-holders who regarded Slovenes with disfavour. Slovene representatives submitted several interpellations against Vesteneck in the Carniolan provincial diet and in the state parliament. He was involved in a nocturnal disturbance in Litija, which proved decisive for his transfer to Styria. He filed a lawsuit against the Viennese periodical Tribüne due to its report on the incident in Litija. He was removed from the post of district governor in Deutschlandsberg in October 1887; and he was arrested on account of embezzlements in 1892. He emigrated to the USA, where he supported himself in a variety of ways, several years even in close collaboration with Slovene expatriates.
