The third and final part of the Much Ado trilogy somewhat moves away from the problem of the Slavic sanctuary and covers the wider context of Ptuj from Late Antiquity to High Middle Ages. The main thread of the article is continuity while, specifically, it tackles three burning issues. The first issue is the continuity between peoples and cultures on the transition from the Romanised Antiquity to the Slav Mid- dle Ages. The second issue is the clash between old “pagan” religion with the “new” Christian religion in the Early Middle Ages. The third issue is the establishment of the feudal order before and after the Hungarian incursions. The author compares different archaeological, hi- storical, philological and geographical sources. He offers a fresh perspective on some sources.
