Marginalia on the Genealogy of the Free Lords of Žovnek
Keywords:
the free lords of Žovnek, deeds, genealogy, Margaret of ŽovnekAbstract
Based on a “newly discovered” deed, the author complemented the genealogy of the free lords of Žovnek and revised some findings relating to their history. New findings refer mostly to Countess Margaret, the widow of Leopold III of Žovnek, who was thus far believed to have been a member of the Counts of Heunburg and later on married Count Ulrich IV of Pfannberg. The article refutes the identity of the Countess Margaret of Heunburg-Pfannberg as Leopold’s eponymous wife, who was after her husband’s death married to Hugo of Teufen, who for a while acted as governor of Posavinje.
