Abstract

The article deals with the role of material sources through different aspects and presents modern teaching approaches for working with material sources both in basic and secondary schools, with a particular emphasis on archaeological sources. Teaching programmes with archaeological topics and teaching approaches are presented by way of an analysis of Slovene museums that were accessible online in 2020. The author describes in detail examples of teaching approaches to archaeological sources found in Slovene museums for basic and secondaryschool students that are based on experimental learning, interdisciplinary curriculum integration, educational visits, as well as on creative and multisensory learning. The article highlights the importance of the role of material sources in teaching history in future.
