Thirty Years of the Historical Society of Slovenia

Abstract

The report of the President of the Historical Society of Slovenia, which was delivered at its annual meeting at the thirthieth anniversary of the Society at Kranjska gora, on 29 September 1976, presents its activity in some of the more significant fields. Among them the meetings of the historians of Slovenia are outstanding. There have been 16 annual meetings since the Second WorId War, and 143 papers were read there. The endeavours of the society for the advancement of history courses at schools is also important, further on the cultural and educational activity of its regional sections is worth mentioning, as well as the publication of its periodicals, »Zgodovinski časopis« (The Historical Review) and »Kronika« (A Review for Slovene Local History). Among the most acute tasks of the Society in the future is enlivening of the activity of its regional and research sections.
