Religious Life and Institutions of the Slavs in Marks in the Period Between the 15th and the 17th Century

Abstract

With the settlement of the Slavs in the Italian countries since the late Middle Ages one can observe also the creation of independent forms of religious life and religious institutions, especiully in regions where the number of Slavs increused and where the influx of migrants was steady since the eud of the 14th century. Such institutions were, for example, fraternities, congregations, colleges etc. This is also trtic of the Marks in the cities such as Recanati, Fano, Pesaro, Fermo, Loreto, and Ancona. In some places the Slavs also had their own, Slavic, priests. As much as it is known now the most significant organization was at Pesaro, where the fraternity of the Slavs is mentioned still in 1656.
