The Investigation of History of Workers' Movement and of the Communist Party Between the Two World Wars in Slovenia

Abstract

In this paper prepared for scholarIy meeting at the occasion of significant celebration of the Communist Party, which was held at the University of Maribor in June 1977, the author first of all presented the conditions for the research of the workers' movement and of the development of the Communist Party in the period between the Two Wars in Slovenia (as e. g. the position of institutions and the personnel, planning, problems related to documents and archives, publications of sources). In the second part of h is study the author enumerated most important achievements of historical studies regarding the investigations that have been carried out by now, and he stressed the fact that great progress in research had been made espccially in the period since the 1960'ies, and he also called the reader's attention to future tasks.
