The British About Marshal Tito and Revolution

This paper was presented at a scientific meeting, »Tito and the Revolution«, vvhich vvas held at Kumrovec between December 14—16, 1977. Basic British literature sources and relevant funds in the Public Record Office are given in the paper. Quotations from most significant diplomatic and military documents characterize very vividly the personality of Marshal Tito, as well as basic dilemmas of short-term and long-term policy British toward the revolutionary events in Yugoslavia. The author quotes some intimate meditations of the British prime miniestr, Sir Winston Churchill, as well as views of high British officials, as for example of general H. M. Wilson, ambas-sador Ralph S. Stevenson, Philip Broad, liutenant colonel Vivian Street, and others. The authenticity of data about Tito, gathered by May 1945, is also analyzed in this paper.
