The Slovene Policy in Triest During the Decade Before the World War I

Abstract

The author deals with the confliets of the Slovene national politics in Triest with the Slovene Socialist Party, and the cfforts of the "Edinost" for the Slovene school, on the oceasion of Parliamentary or Provincial Diet elections and population censuses. He discusses about the Yugoslav concept, which was more and more gaining ground in Triest, as well as about the confliets with the "Novi kurz" ("New Course") politics. The autochto-nous Ieaders of the working class grew into a new political factor in Triest. They founded the "Ljudski oder" ("People's Stage"), whose importance reached over the local political efforts and was of great significance for the Slovene nation. The author also points out to the confliets between the Nationalists and Socialists as regards the concepts of the Slovene schools in Triest.
