The most convenient way of reaching the new territories were the rivers Sava and Ljubljanica where the regulation works were conducted by the commission, formed in 1736. In 1766 a special patent regulated the traffic by the river Sava, which increased until 1776, but then decreased, so that the up till then navigation regime was abolished in 1778.
