Map of the Road along the River Soča form the 17th Century

Abstract

A short description of traffic roads development from the High Middle Ages on is followed by a description of the map, bedng kept in the Haus-, Hof- und Staatsarchiv in Vienna. The author states that the dateless, 3,5 metres long coloured map originates from the middle of the 17th century, although there is a small possibility that it is a century older. Beside the drawn in of the road along the river Soča and traffic objects on it the map gives a series of data concerning the Soča valley and is an important historical source.
