Eastern Goths and Roman Emperors from 455 till 507

Abstract

The nucleus of the research, dealing with the period from the settling of the Goths under Walamer in Pannonia until formation of the Eastern Gothic state under Theodoric the Great, is the interpretation of the fragments of the historian Malchos from the 6th century. The author points out to the great informative value of the Malchos's fragments (fragments 14—19 are in Müller, FHG IV) for the course and chronology of Eastern-Gothic movements and emphasizes the connection between the speech of Enodius and the Eastern-Gothic propaganda and diplomacy.
