Abstract

The author shows on the basis of sources the developement of the North-East part of the German Kingdom (Bela krajina) from the annexation at the end of the 12th century to the formation of a unique independent county under the Gorizian-Tiroll counts, transition under the Habsburg (1374) and the loss of the last attributes of independent govemment (about 1556). Beside a wider dynastic range the aristocracy is separately analised, their special position regarding Kranjsko, their property, family developement, the formation and the role of both towns — Črnomelj and Metlika, the organisation of the Church, the agrarian colonisation to the end of the 15th century with a special stress on the consequences of turkish raids. The paper is a first try of a synthesis (mainly administrative) of history of Bela krajina through a longer period of time. Due to lack of various sources the period up to 12th century is not studied in detail.
