Abstract

The efforts for creation of national territories have in 1848/49 failed and the historical principle of partition of Austria prevailed. When introducing the new judiciary and administration structure in 1849 within the provinces, the nationality structure was at the official preparations ascertained from the 1846 statistics with various consequence: Carniola was considered completely Slovene, in Styria a Slovene judiciary (and temporary administration) region in the range of a third of the province was created, in the Littoral (region) »by chance« the national structure was considered when consisting judicial districts, in Carinthia there were beside Slovene and German quite a few mixed districts.
