Abstract

On basis of number of votes which individual parties received on elections into the Constituent assembly, and voting of delegates on the first constitution in the Kingdom of SHS constitution, we are trying to estimate how many electors indirectly voted for or against the constitution. 224 delegates voted for the constitution; we have included the vote of Ivan Ribar who as president of the Constituent assembly did not vote but presumably would have been for the constitution. Against were 36 delegates, including Stojan Protič, 159 were absent. In Slovenia, Dalmatia, Montenegro and Croatia the majority of electors gave their votes for delegates who voted against the constitution or were absent. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vojvodina, Serbia, Macedonia and in Kosovo the majority of support was given the delegates who later voted for the constitution. 739.496 electors voted for delegates who were for the constitution and 716.284 for those against or absent. The difference was only 23.212 votes (or 1,59 % of all votes).
